The Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is located 18 miles west of Farmington, a community of about 40,000, in the northwest region of New Mexico.
Because the Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is on the Navajo Reservation, Navajo preference will apply in the job selection.
The Security Coordinator at Four Corners Power Plant, located in Fruitland, NM, performs a variety of security functions directed at protecting company assets and personnel. Provide a security presence at company facilities and events. Act as initial responder and/or phone contact to report and investigate situations involving theft, damage, fraud or threats to company personnel, property and critical infrastructure. Authors detailed incident reports and other written work product as required. Ensures compliance with existing security procedures and proposes enhancements to physical security systems, procedures and policy. Issues and manages access badges to secure areas. Works with personnel and contract security guard staff throughout the corporation to develop and implement physical security standards, policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison between the company and law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
Utilizes several computer systems to complete reports, manage access into APS facilities and to perform other essential job tasks.
Security Coordinators are armed and prepared to respond to emergencies on company property.
May be called upon to intervene in confrontational situations and utilize appropriate force to maintain safety and security of company assets.
May be assigned to work at any APS location and may respond to situations at any APS site.
Position will require evening as well as weekend work. Work hours are subject to change
High school degree or GED plus five (5) years experience as a full time Certified Peace Officer and/or Military Law Enforcement Officer. Criminal Intelligence and Threat Assessment background preferred.
Must be able to meet the Arizona P.O.S.T. standards for firearms qualification with their assigned firearm, as this position is required to be armed. Must be able to perform duties all required duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
Must be able to maintain proficiency with all assigned weapons as required, be able to respond to unusual or emergency situations using only reasonable means of force to control and/or make the situation safe and must be able to perform all duties stated wearing personal protective equipment.
Must meet all requirements outlined in the APS Authorized Weapons Procedure, including passing an initial psychological evaluation.
It is highly preferred that any separation from a Law Enforcement Agency has occurred within five (5) years of the date of appointment to APS Corporate Security.
1) Conducts preliminary investigations and writes detailed incident reports.
2) Uses Microsoft Office products to complete reports and other documents.
3) Creates and controls the issuance of identification badges for employees, contractors and contingent workers.
4) Maintains effective site security of corporate assets through utilization of contract staff, security systems and monitoring; ensures all security procedures, post orders and emergency plans are in place and implemented as situations dictate.
5) Ensures that proper site security and security systems exist system-wide through site audits and customer contacts.
6) Maintains communications within the Chain of Command structure to include affected business units.
7) Maintains confidentiality related to sensitive investigations and incidents
8) Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures and State and Federal laws by maintaining a working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws including the Regulatory Compliance Requirements as they apply to the Corporate Security Department.
9) May act as the company’s liaison with local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies supporting crime-related investigations and other security matters.
10) Responds to call-outs on a rotational basis or as needed to support the Unit.
11) Responds to life safety issues (i.e., intrusions, fire alarms/evacuations or other unusual or emergency situations
12) Develops and delivers training on security related topics to employee and contractors

This position requires employees to work at the (Location), with some flexibility. Flexibility will be determined with the hired employee and leadership.
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:
APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
