The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to work with the General Counsel to provide guidance to VEDP on legal issues and policy interpretation and development. Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating and enforcing performance agreements involving economic development incentive grant programs; assisting with the preparation of responses to Virginia Freedom of Information Act requests; and advising staff on the development and use of economic development incentives.
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and constitutions and have significant experience in government and general corporate and legal matters. Knowledge of the economic development process preferred. The Assistant General Counsel must have the ability to plan, develop and implement projects; negotiate and resolve problems; and communicate well both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated history of working with minimal supervision and managing multiple deadlines is required. Applicants must also have strong presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills. Graduation from an ABA accredited law school is required. Salary commensurate with experience.
