The Utah Attorney General's Office has an immediate opening for an attorney with approximately five years of experience to represent the Utah Department of Agriculture. The successful candidate will provide legal representation to the Commissioner of Agriculture, divisions within the department and its boards and commissions.
Legal work to include: preparing legal opinions, monitoring litigation, reviewing contracts, legal research, training and administrative rule writing. Knowledge of GRAMA and OPMA helpful. The successful candidate will be assisting the Department of Agriculture in legal issues related to the cultivation, processing, and registration of industrial hemp, cannabidiol products and medical marijuana. Additionally, the attorney would assist the client in establishing programs, developing administrative rules, assisting with administrative enforcement actions and hearings. Applicants must possess excellent written and oral advocacy skills and have the experience and ability to immediately assist the Department. Seeking someone with knowledge of agricultural issues and a desire to work in this area. Membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing is required. The position is located in Salt Lake City.
