Position Description
The Department of History at the University of Toledo invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in late-nineteenth/early-twentieth-century US History with a specialization in Public History. We are particularly interested in applicants with a geographic focus on US Midwestern and who demonstrate new and creative ways to utilize public history skills in interpreting local history.
This faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate surveys in US History, an Ohio History course, and upper-level undergraduate, graduate, and public history courses in their area of expertise. The faculty member will also oversee the department’s internship program and coordinate with local historical sites and institutions.
Preferred qualifications include experience mentoring first generation and underrepresented minority college students. The University of Toledo is a comprehensive public research university in Northwest Ohio, and the History Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees (BA, MA, and PhD).
