Twin Cities PBS, one of America’s premier public media organizations, is seeking a Chief Inclusion Officer. With the growing on-air, online and on-the-ground reach of Twin Cities PBS (TPT), our capacity and communities have never been more diversely interconnected. This newly created, full-time position, reporting directly to the President & CEO, will design and implement a holistic and enterprise-wide inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) strategy, as well as elevate IDEA into our outreach, education, programming and business initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
TPT seeks a compelling advocate who is able to appreciate TPT’s identity as a leading public media institution and communicate TPT’s focus to advance education, culture and citizenship. The CIO will join a collaborative, committed and supportive team, operating with a strong sense of mission, community and purpose.
Our ideal candidate will have broad experience working within a matrixed organization. The candidate will be highly motivated, organized and experienced in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, and will build upon TPT’s current IDEA work. The candidate will oversee essential practices and programs related to IDEA, bringing thought leadership, a compelling vision for success and continuing best practices in the IDEA space. The CIO will lead and amplify TPT’s work around all aspects of IDEA, partnering with key internal stakeholders including: Human Resources, Content, Marketing, Communication, Impact, Finance, Revenue, Membership, Philanthropy, and Technology, as well as external partners, funders and stakeholders.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the leadership team, internal and external partners to create and implement a roadmap of IDEA initiatives and education programs to build awareness, allyship and capabilities across TPT.
- Develop short and long range strategic goals, annual work plans and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, achievement and accountability within TPT.
- Lead and advise on creating inclusive environments that allow all of our team members to grow and thrive in their careers.
- Align TPT people practices and policies with the IDEA strategic and operational efforts to hire, develop, promote and retain a diverse workforce in collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer.
- Partner with key leaders across the organization more broadly to drive accountability and transparency around targeted improvements in diverse representation and initiatives
- Advise on product, programming and policy decisions as well as operational and communication practices.
- Provide coaching and guidance to our leaders on IDEA matters.
- Invest in the future of public media by participating in the oversight of our career pathways and internship programs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to create policies to ensure progressive partnerships.
- Foster and cultivate external relationships with networks and partnerships for best practice awareness
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years prior relevant professional experience, . Diversity, equity and inclusion experience in a nonprofit, education, media, arts and/or culture environment preferred
- Demonstrated experience and desire to build a culture of belonging in the workplace
- Highly motivated, organized and experienced in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, and will build upon TPT’s current IDEA work
- The ability to lead complex initiatives and handle difficult conversations
- Excellent communicator and writer, with the ability to build strong and lasting relationships
- Proven experience working within a matrixed organization
- Knowledge of federal, state and local legislation related to EEO Act and building / leading Affirmative Action Plans
- A passion for IDEA work and a demonstrated awareness and understanding of diversity in all its facets
- A can do attitude that is solutions-oriented
- Knowledge of The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®)
- An appreciation and respect for confidentiality
- Ability to listen carefully, coach and mentor others. Collaborate and engage with internal and external constituents to generate an energy and commitment to change.
- Proficiency in data analysis to inform strategies, create metrics and drive accountability for the delivery of outcomes within the business
