Public Health Nurse (Part-Time)
Description:
The Public Health Nurse responds to health questions by individuals and/or families during home visits, in clinics or schools, or while giving health demonstrations and lectures to community groups to educate the public on preventive health measures. Visits homes of individuals and/or families in the community and gathers initial background information used to assess their health needs and problems to develop a health care plan. Interviews patients and/or families to evaluate health needs or environmental hazards in the homes. Implements actions to curtail the spread of communicable diseases by instructing high-risk individuals or groups in the proper control measures.
Conducts investigations of suspected disease outbreaks; visits suspected areas and interviews persons who have contracted the disease to compile information on symptoms and environmental factors. Measures patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight to record the patients' vital signs and growth process. Performs related duties as required. Work is performed under general direction from the Director of Health and Human Services or their designee who assigns duties and reviews performance for completeness, conformance to instructions and regulations.
Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree with at least one (1) year of public health nursing background preferred. Applicants must possess a current and valid registration as a Professional Nurse (RN) in the State of New Jersey.
Salary: $32.43 per hour, part-time (not to exceed 28 hours per week).
