Health Director - Full Time, Monday-Thursday, 35 hours per week
The Town of Montague seeks an exceptional candidate for the position of Health Director, this position is full time at 35 hours per week Monday-Thursday. The Health Director is expected to frequently work Fridays for Housing Court, evenings and weekends, as well as being on call, when the work requires. Position performs complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in managing the Board of Health.
Responsibilities include supervising department operations and employees. Conducting and/or supervising all required inspections including, but not limited to, food establishments, housing, swimming pools, recreational camps for children, and body art establishments; investigating alleged public health violations, writing legally binding orders to correct independently and/or in collaboration with the Inspector of Buildings, Firefighters, Police, and the DPW superintendent.
The Health Director is expected to work and coordinate with neighboring communities regarding public health emergency preparedness. The position is responsible for supervising 1 to 4 full-time equivalent employees in the positions of Administrative Assistant, Health Inspector, Public Health Nurse, and Animal Inspector.
Candidates for the position should have a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology or related field and 3 to 5 years of experience in public health inspection and enforcement work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The candidate should have the following licenses and certifications: MA RS and/or REHS/RS, Department of Environmental Protection Soil Evaluator (CSE), Department of Environmental Protection Septic System Inspector, Certified Swimming Pool Operator (CPO), Certified Food Handler, Certified Lead Determinator, and a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Salary range $58,291.00 to $71,388 depending on qualifications and experience.
