Assistant Town Clerk

 

$32.78 hourly

 

Performs statutory, regulatory and charter responsibilities specific to the recording and reporting of land records, vital statistics and other official documents, special and general elections, and issuing of various permits and licenses and the collection of related fees. Provides information on town records and recording procedures to attorneys, real estate agents and the public.  Administers oaths to newly elected officials.  Serves as Deputy Town Clerk in the absence of the Deputy Town Clerk.  The work involves attention to details to maintain accurate records, answering customer inquiries.  Responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Associate’s degree in business or public administration, or a related field, and one year of responsible records management experience; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience substituting on the basis of one year of experience for each year of education.  Must be a Notary Public in State of Connecticut or must be able to acquire a Notary Public in State of Connecticut within six months of appointment.

 

Selection Process

 

Candidates may be rated based on education, experience, and skills identified on the application, resume and cover letter as they relate to the requirements of this position.  Additional examinations may include computer skills testing, written subject matter tests, and/or oral interviews or may be a combination of any of the above.
