Assistant Town Manager

The Town of Altavista is seeking a career minded, dynamic, energetic, highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Town Manager. The Assistant Town Manager performs complex professional and administrative work assisting the Town Manager in a variety of assignments relating to the planning, direction, control and evaluation of the operations and programs of the town government. Collaborates with the management team in the creation and maintenance of the Town's operating and capital budgets as well as serving as Risk Manager Coordinator. This individual provides a full range of management, administrative and field services related to town services. The position will also fill the role as the Transit Director. The Assistant Town Manager duties also involve serving as technical advisor to the Town Manager, Town Council, and other commissions/boards. Employee is also responsible for compilation of monthly and special reports. Employee must exercise tact and firmness in dealing with the public, volunteers, developers, contractors, and public officials.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree with coursework in public administration, or related field ad considerable (3+ years) in municipal government, or equivalent combination and experience. Specialized technical training in transit, project administration and code enforcement preferred. Valid Driver's License. Ability to make presentations to various audiences and good communication skills. Salary will depend upon qualifications and position includes benefits.
