Diversity Information/Career Fair for Certified Teachers & Administrators
Monday, May 13, 2019 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School 272 Morris Avenue, Summit, New Jersey.
The Summit Public Schools is a culturally rich, pre K-12 suburban school district of 4,200 students, which benefits from outstanding community support. Our students achieve at the highest levels academically, artistically, and athletically.
Thirteen percent of Summits students participate in the free and reduced lunch program. Sixteen percent of our students are Hispanic. Five percent of the students are African American, and a supportive African American Action Association is active in our schools. More than 30 different languages are spoken by our students families. We are conducting this career fair for certified applicants to help tell the story of the Summit Public Schools to a more diverse applicant pool.
The Summit Public Schools is looking for talented and innovative staff members who can engage and motivate our students and prepare them for the 21st century. We celebrate the diversity of our students, and we seek outstanding candidates with diverse backgrounds to consider a career in the Summit Public Schools.
Pre-registration for the fair is required. We are limiting registration to assure that all those attending will have an opportunity for a brief screening interview with one of our administrators.
Advance registration is required. Registration will close at 4:00 pm the Thursday before the event. We will be unable to accommodate those who have not registered.
We will ask for your name, telephone number and certification specialty.
**Once you have been registered by the Office of Human Resources you need to go to the employment section of our website and read the instructions for information about the job fair. Doors will not open until 4:15 pm. All candidates need to be at the middle school by 5:00 p.m.**
We anticipate possible openings for the 2019-2020 school year in the following areas:
ESL High School
French - Middle School
School Counselor - Elementary
Vocal Music - Elementary
Science - Middle School (2)
Latin - Middle School
Chemistry - High School
Student Assistance Coordinator - Middle School
Special Education (with Math or Science) - High School
Administrators will be on hand to meet with candidates in other areas of certification for anticipated future openings.
