Summit County is seeking a highly motivated and organized Emergency Manager, with a thorough knowledge of the National Incident Management system (NIMS); the Incident Command System (ICS); the operation of emergency operations centers (EOCs); the design, development, implementation and evaluation of emergency management exercises; techniques for attracting, training, managing and utilizing volunteers in emergency management; the mass care system for assisting displaced persons during emergencies; risk assessment and mitigation strategies needed for effective emergency management and the laws, regulations and guidelines utilized in current emergency management practice. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; plan, organize and direct the operations of the emergency management network prior to and during emergencies; develop and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, federal agencies, state agencies and local governments and the public.
This is a non-benefited, time-limited position, working less than 30 hrs. per week under the general supervision of the Search and Rescue Lieutenant.
Salary Range: $39,375.00 - $55,312.50/annually Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Emergency Management, or a related field.
Two (2) years of related professional experience in the field of Emergency Management. Completion of FEMA Independent Study Courses IS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800. Completion of Emergency Management Institute's Professional Development Series Certificate is preferred. We are a drug-free workplace conducting pre-employment drug testing.
