1 Full Time opening in Treatment Services
Purpose: Under minimal supervision of the Division Director for Treatment Services (TS), this position performs professional communication and public relation activities. This is to include media requests for Treatment Services, Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), as well as writing and editing of internal and external communications related to OTP work.
Internal Communication
- Collaborates with TS management team to ensure consistent communication for all necessary division wide impacts.
- Facilitates communication of program specific information to TS staff through email, Teams, meetings, and calls.
- Assists in planning and facilitation of TS quarterly division meetings.
- Acts as a resource for writing and editing documents for media, reports, external correspondence, promotional, web, and digital content.
External Communication
- Acts as a community liaison to assist in communication between TS OTP and community stakeholders, and community partners.
- As Community Relations Coordinator assumes duties necessary to coordinate communications and meetings to resolve any concerns or conflicts between TS OTP and external community partners.
- Works with SRHD Communications Team to ensure SRHD branding is consistent with the Communications Style Guide in all forms of communication.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with various community and professional organizations specific to Substance Use Disorder Treatment modalities, participates in community committees, and councils to represent SRHD TS accordingly.
- Responsible for sharing information about the program with the community and addressing mutual issues.
- Responsible for defining the goals and the implementation procedure for the community relations plan.
Community Relations
- Communicates program services, guidelines and/or standards to clients, community partners, and/or organizations.
- Collaborates with community partners to ensure services are provided to appropriate target groups.
- Conduct community outreach activities which may include community meetings and education forums.
- Develop and update communication materials, may include webpages, after hours answering messages, brochures, and newspaper articles among other things.
- Document any new concerns identified by stakeholders and any suggested mitigation alternatives proposed by stakeholders.
- Documentation of mitigation tasks that OTP will use to address concerns, which concern(s) each task will address, who is responsible for leading the task, the target date for the task to be implemented, and the resolution date.
Budget development/ oversight
- Contributes and participates in the division budget and specific contracts and/or grant awards.
- Review’s revenues and expenditures, making programmatic recommendations and/or recommending amendment to the budget as needed.
- Seeks additional funding sources for various programs as appropriate/needed.
Other:
- Participates in team meetings and case staffing meetings.
- Performs other duties or special projects as requested by the TS Program Manager(s), Director, Administrative Officer, or Board of Health.
- Maintains HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Confidentiality.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 3 years of relevant experience in community coordination/relations.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and certification may be considered, provided the individual’s background demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
Required Licensure/Certification:
- Valid motor vehicle license or the ability to access multiple sites in a timely manner.
Required Immunizations:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate a keyboard and type 40 wpm.
- Ability to work flexible work hours (flex time work agreement required).
- Ability to successfully manage and meet multiple deadlines, periodically concurrently.
- Ability to prioritize workload and flexibility to manage concurrent projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and persuasively in a positive or negative situation, ability to present information clearly and effectively to people with a wide variety of backgrounds, and educational levels including clients, staff, health care provides, public officials, and community partners. Strong spelling, grammar, and editing skills.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; different file formats (i.e., tif, eps, pdf, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of advertising and social marketing.
- Knowledge and skills in graphic design and layout techniques.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with staff and individuals of all socioeconomic levels and ethnic/cultural groups.
- Strong reasoning skills: ability to function in a fast-paced proactive and reactive work environment; must be able to anticipate and adjust staffing to fluctuations in workload.
- Skills in working with community organizations, and group processes.
- Ability to learn and apply substance use disorder knowledge to daily work.
- Ability to provide effective leadership skills.
- Ability to represent the Health District and Treatment Services in a well-informed, professional, and effective manner.
Environmental Factors:
- Indoors, sedentary with 4-8 hours/day sitting or standing.
- Outdoors, with 1 hours/day walking or standing.
- Ability to navigate client sites (unpaved walkways, stairs, narrow hallways, etc.) on an occasional basis.
- 6-8 hours/day keyboarding or typing at a computer terminal.
- Communication skills to interact effectively with people.
- Comprehend and process verbal communication.
- Visual acuity to read small print.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop on an occasional basis.
