Associates “SLMA” is a
professional medical
corporation located in Houma, Louisiana. SLMA was formed in 1978 to serve as an educational affiliate of the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and has a contract with the Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center ("CMC" or the "Hospital") to provide both
medical staffing and graduate medical educational services. CMC is a Joint Commission
accredited hospital owned by the State of Louisiana and operated by Southern Regional Medical Corporation. The Hospital is staffed by SLMA physicians.
SLMA seeks to employ a
Physician-Cardiologist
to work at CMC.
The Physician-Cardiologist provides primary care and
comprehensive health care to
patients; delivers range of acute, chronic, and preventive medical care services while providing
patients with patient-centered medical services; works with
other physicians as a consultant and advises about specific
diagnosis and treatment plans
related to cardiology; assumes management of patient's
cardiatric care; manages cardiac testing procedures/studies
including echo cardiograms, EKG's nuclear stress testing,
exercise stress testing, Holter monitor, and loop recorders; provides the associated follow up and treatment regarding
testing outcomes; interpret
cardiac testing results; reads and analyzes sophisticated heart tests; teaches residents,
medical students, and
emergency medical technicians in cardiology specialty; plans and coordinates all aspects of
inpatient and outpatient
cardiology care; supervises a staff of physicians and other medical professionals who will provide health care services to patients in cardiology; develops,
coordinates, and implements a cardiology educational
curriculum; monitors the
cardiology services to patients in cardiology; develops corrective actions when necessary;
develops and maintains
proficiency in the technical,
medical, and educational
components of cardiology as defined by standards generally accepted in the medical
community; provides status
reports on the cardiology service to CMC management; educates/trains medical
residents in the field of cardiology; and develops accurate
documentation that complies with medical standards.
Candidates must have a doctor of medicine degree and
sub-specialty certification/
eligibility in cardiology, as well as the skill, precision, competence, and ability to teach in highly
active cardiology practice.
Licensure through the Louisiana board of medical examiners to practice medicine in Louisiana and complete residence in
cardiology is required. Some travel within Terrebonne Parish may be required.
