Utility Worker - $51,084.80- $62,108.80
The Utility Worker performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair and replacement related to the District’s infrastructure. They operate various types of mobile and general construction equipment, working on canals, pipelines, pumping plants, roads, buildings, and other facilities. The Utility Worker has knowledge of the identification, use, and operation of common power tools utilized in construction or maintenance trades.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a construction, mechanical, metal, or building trade. They deal courteously with the public; and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. A strong candidate has the ability to perform manual work requiring the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Experience and Education
A typical qualifying entrance background is prior employment in laboring work which has provided familiarity with the operation and uses of construction or maintenance equipment, hand, and power tools common to a construction, mechanical, metal or building trade. Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Licenses and Certification
- Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain within nine (9) months of hire, and maintenance of a California Department of Motor Vehicles Class B license is a condition of employment.
