Solano Irrigation District is seeking candidates to join the Finance Department as an entry, journey, or senior level Accountant.
The ideal candidate will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset, with the skills to analyze financial data and review payroll and financial documents. They will have the ability to multitask, allowing them to regularly work on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Accountant I - learns the day-to-day duties of performing the financial reporting cycle from the subledger level; payroll; accounts payable; accounts receivable; cash receipts, fixed asset, general ledger analysis, and preparation of financial statements.
Accountant II – performs a variety of professional accounting duties related to the preparation of financial statements, review of fiscal records, and monitoring of accounting transactions.
Senior Accountant - performs a variety of difficult and complex professional accounting, financial duties, and analysis involving District budgets, financial studies, and related financial programs; prepares, analyzes, and audits a variety of technical financial reports; and provides technical assistance to other departments.
A combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Accountant I – Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, or a closely related field with an emphasis in accounting from an accredited college or university. Experience performing professional level accounting functions, preferably in a public agency, is desirable.
Accountant II - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, or a closely related field with an emphasis in accounting from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of experience in performing the financial reporting/accounting cycle from journal entries to fully analyzed financial statements and associated reports. Experience performing accounting functions for a public agency is desirable.
Senior Accountant - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, from an accredited college or university AND four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional governmental accounting and financial analysis experience in a public agency in the State of California.
Licenses and Certification
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.
