Inside Sales Representative

REPORTS TO: General Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for generating revenue within company established margin range from walk in customers and will assist in providing sales support to Outside Sales Representatives when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Works effectively with prospects to generate sales by determining customer needs, and providing best solutions.
* Provides sales assistance to Outside Sales Reps as needed.
* Maintain a working knowledge of products in lumber and home improvement and assist in all areas of daily store/yard operations.
* Maintains customer relations including resolving complaints, credits/returns, reviewing daily reports/open orders/po's, and ensuring they are met with a positive and professional image.
* Develops relationships with existing and potential customers through personal and phone contact, ensuring completion of plan take-offs, bids and quotes, answering questions and solving problems
* Prepares and presents accurate sales proposals and quotes to prospective or current customers
* Provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times.
* Ensures all projects generate appropriate profit margins to justify sale
* Coordinates all deliveries and credit pick-ups with yard dispatcher
* Develops process to track progress of customer's projects and monitors progress
* Other duties as necessary.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). Post-secondary education in construction/structural design preferred.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
* 1-3 years' experience in sales or sales support preferably in the construction and/or building materials industry.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
* Strong mathematical skills including construction math and pricing/gross margin calculations.
* Strong written and oral communication skills with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
* Computer and technology skills (smartphone, MS Office products and basic computer operations).
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
* Must have strong listening skills.
* Strong relationship building skills.
* Must be detail-oriented.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Must be able to walk, sit and stand.
* Frequent use of hands and wrist required for computer and telephone use.
* Work indoors in Office/Desk setting
* Occasional work on showroom floor.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Work primarily indoors in controlled temperature conditions. Occasional outside work associated with the yard and customer job sites.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Valid class D driver's license with good driving record.
