Deputy Treasurer/Administrative Assistant IV
Summary of Position:
The successful applicant will process tax payments and miscellaneous deposits from other departments, assist with foreclosures, prepare Treasurer’s Deeds and provide tax and foreclosure information to the public over the counter, by telephone and by e-mail, file daily work documents, and complete special projects as assigned.
Duties include, but not limited to:
Assisting customers with tax payments, deposits, copying and researching of records; processing tax payments, receipts and address changes; providing information on taxes, releases and Certificates of Taxes Due; inputting data into automated accounting system; balancing payments to tax receipts; calculating penalties, interest and balances due; mailing and filing receipts; researching delinquent taxes; preparing and signing Certificates of Taxes Due; assisting in organization and completion of yearly tax lien sale including checking tax and ownership records, registering participants, recording bids and assisting in mailings; and assisting in balancing daily cash intake and preparation of deposit.
Duties are performed with attention to detail, accuracy and neatness with frequent interruptions. Organizational skills are required. Applicant must have strong word processing and computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as navigating a Windows based computer system and the Internet and must have the ability to learn specialized departmental software within 3-6 months of hire date. Must have the ability to learn metes and bounds land descriptions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, plus two to three years of related experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
