Member Services Specialist assists in implementing the day-to-day operations of the membership program. Operations include membership drive preparation, processing transactions, maintenance of databases, production and reporting functions. Responsible for the organization and filing of all records in the membership department. Communicate necessary information to accounting. This is a full-time position with benefits. The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week, increasing to as much as 45+ hours a week during membership drives and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for daily membership program operations, including processing online gifts, credit cards, checks, and payment refunds.
Complete all data entry for membership drives including source codes, program information, and thank you gift set-up.
Process thank you gift orders and monitor reports of backorders and shipments on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate preparations for on-air membership drives including pledge page updates, technology, volunteer support, talent materials, and production assets.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the membership database through daily data hygiene processes as well as ongoing special projects.
Process monthly database functions including production of fundraising materials.
Prepare membership and accounting reports on ongoing basis and file all reports in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities

Primary backup for Donor Relations Specialist
Primary backup for Afternoon Receptionist
Provide excellent customer service, including personal and electronic contact, to Prairie Public members
Assist with membership drives and events as needed
Provide administrative support to Membership Manager as needed
General organization of office and department resources
Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

Associates degree or equivalent experience required. Prior clerical, data entry, customer service experience preferred. Nonprofit experience and/or fundraising experience a plus.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Must exercise discretion with highly confidential and sensitive information.

Must be able to professionally represent Prairie Public to donors and the public through outstanding written, oral, and personal communications skills. Must be personable and professional and enjoy dealing with people.

Must have strong clerical and organizational skills. Good working knowledge of PCs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and mail merge function. Database experience and accurate and high-speed data entry a must. Experience with donor software is a plus.

Must be able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail with ability to analyze and resolve problems. Should be a self-starter and be able to work independently.

Occasional weekends and evenings required; flexibility is a must.

Should be able to lift boxes up to 25-30 pounds and needs manual dexterity for data entry duties.
