Geotechnical Engineering Division Manager
Geotechnical Engineering Division Manager for Pennoni Associates, Inc. in Newark, NJ. Manage projects, clients, and the overall business unit, staffing and personnel. Conduct and manage geotechnical engineering services, including investigations, analysis, engineering evaluation, recommendations, reports, etc. on commercial, institutional, industrial, and public works infrastructure projects.
Provide engineering services to external clients as well as internal clients within Company's other divisions that work on multidiscipline engineering projects.
Oversee construction inspection and materials testing and conduct special inspections that require Professional Engineering (deep foundations, SOE).
Develop engineering proposals, draft reports and perform quality reviews of proposals and reports developed by other staff.
Develop new business and maintain existing clients.
Mentor junior staff. Conduct business planning and foster strategic growth.
Requirements are Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field + 3 years experience in a geotechnical engineering position that includes
1) site reconnaissance, inspecting subsurface investigations and in-situ testing;
2) performing engineering analyses for slope stability, settlement and consolidation estimates;
3) performing deep and mat foundation design;
4) designing and implementing ground improvement techniques;
5) evaluating laboratory analytical data and preparing geotechnical reports;
6) designing excavation support and foundations;
7) monitoring foundation and earthwork construction;
8) performing construction special inspections for support of excavation, shallow and deep foundations;
9) using finite element modeling techniques for settlement analysis, pile design, slope stability analysis, and excavation support;
10) planning and execution of field infiltration testing for stormwater design; and
11) using geophysical methods to evaluate subsurface conditions and seismic site classifications.
Must have a New York State Professional Engineer License which is required to sign inspection reports in New York.
Must travel at least two days per week to work at the Company's New York City office.
