The purpose of this position is to create a GIS ditch system capable of receiving service requests.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, experience working with GIS software (ie. ArcGIS products) and Microsoft Office Suite required. Working towards a degree/certificate in GIS, Surveying, Geography, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. This is a temporary position.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

The GIS Assistant carries out specific duties associated with the position.
 Digitize Nobles County ditch system and add attributes to GIS database.
 Scan in ditch maps/blueprints/surveys.
 Assist with creating online ditch service map.
 Collect and enter attribute data in the office and field.
 Create, edit and update features in geodatabases and shapefiles.
 Scans and attaches plans, manuals and files to assets.
 Assist the GIS Coordinator to develop and maintain the geography and attribute databases.
 Work to increase productivity and ease of use of technicians (survey, highway, planning) as well as incumbent and other application developers.
 Coordinates development of county ditch information available on County website and collection of GIS field data.
 Performs general office duties including answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages, copying documents and maintaining files.
 Exercises teamwork with other county employees and management in carrying out the shared mission of serving the public.
 Follows workplace safety rules and notifies management of observed risks in a timely manner.
 Maintains the confidentiality of data that is protected by law.
