The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a Finance professional with strong supervisory experience to work under the general direction of a Court Executive 2A (Assistant Chief) to support and assist in directing Position Control and Accounts Payable activities. This individual will possess strong financial analysis and administrative skills to serve in the Administrative Supervisor position to coordinate and organize various accounting activities of the Judiciary.


Remote Work: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.


Example of Duties:

* Plan, organize, coordinate and direct support staff in the daily operations of various accounting activities including, but not limited to, salary forecasting, preparation of staffing models, accounts payable and to provide excellent customer service.

* Work closely with Human Resources on staffing related & hiring issues and with the Hiring Review Board presentations.

* Formulation and analysis of salary budgets and expenditures.

* Review of operating procedures and administrative practices.

* Reconcile salary accounts and general ledger accounts.

* Prepare monthly reports and salary forecasting models.

* Manage month-end and year-end closings.

* Prepare year-end entries, reconciliations, and reports, work with external auditors.

* Provide technical support, training, and guidance to Central Office Finance staff, Vicinage (County) Finance offices and Human Resource Division staff.

* Investigate, resolve, address, and/or respond to issues, complaints, or inquiries from external customers, or within the Judiciary; respond to requests for service or assistance; coordinate activities with other departments and/or State agencies.

* Supervision and evaluation of support staff; resolve staffing issues; hiring and professional development of staff; evaluate unit activities for effectiveness.


Salary range is $77,137.95 - $114,611.63. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.



Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 21 credits hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration and/or finance. Twelve of these credit hours must be in accounting and five years of professional experience, two years of which shall have included experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, cash management and/or financial analysis.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education but do possess the required 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, and/or finance, including 12 accounting credit hours, may substitute paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above – OR – a CPA designation may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above.


Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.


Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.


Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required.  Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
