RESPONSIBILITIES
NSA Overview The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. Description of Position NSA's Engagement and Policy organization is seeking superior applicants with experience and creative skills in photography, using digital imaging equipment, and a high level of proficiency using photo editing software to process digital images. Imaging Specialists at the NSA document activities and convey information by capturing and producing professional, accurate, and aesthetic images using digital imaging technologies and databases across a broad range of applications. Activities requiring documentation may include: high-profile events. They provide direct mission support, capturing images using digital imaging equipment, editing with digital editing software, and archiving images in appropriate cataloging databases for ease of timely retrieval. The responsibilities of an Imaging Specialist at the NSA include: - Using computers and computer systems to accomplish work activities. Includes navigating the internet and common file systems within a computer network. - Receiving and conveying information using computers, software applications, multimedia and other technologies and techniques. - Designing, developing and editing multimedia products. - Providing the most appropriate and/or required media formats. Reproduces, distributes, and archives multimedia products in a variety of formats. - Using a variety of equipment and software to create and edit multimedia products. - Applying NSA/CSS policies and directives. - Understanding NSA/CSS and customer organizations, practices, missions, and goals. - Understanding elements of exposure, lighting and composition of photography. - Studio and environment portraiture. - Organize and pose small to very large groups of subjects. - Photography in vast array of lighting conditions, ambient and artificial. - Using a camera and other photography equipment and tools to capture, process, and produce images in required media. (Experience using Nikon equipment is preferred) - Experience shooting in manual mode. - Physical ability to climb to heights and/or operate in confined spaces to photograph. - Excellent customer relation and communication.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated and qualified imaging specialist with excellent oral and written communication skills, a desire for continual learning, possesses problem-solving, analytic, and interpersonal skills, and is: - detail-oriented - customer and results oriented - able to adjust to changing situational requirements - able to build relationships across the Agency and with external stakeholders - able to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables Additional qualifications include an online portfolio showing recent examples of your photography work demonstrating your experience, skills, and creativity. Applicants without a current photography portfolio will not be considered.
PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Flexibility in work schedule is required to accommodate evenings, weekends, and short-notice events. Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.
POSITION SUMMARY
Communications personnel at the National Security Agency (NSA) provide NSA with the means to build capacity through timely and effective tailored communications to inform, educate and inspire. Examples include building state-of-the-art websites and web applications for the Agency intranet, performing closed captioning at a live event, designing logos, publishing reports, and maintaining/safeguarding records.
