Supervisor: Tribal Administrator

Under policy direction of the Chairman and Tribal Council directs and manages the police department, the provision of law enforcement and animal services for the tribe. Coordinates the activities of the police department with other law enforcement agencies, courts, other tribal departments, public agencies and performs other duties as assigned.

Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs. manages and evaluates the activities of the of the police department. Establishes department goals, objectives, policies, priorities, rules and procedures, meets with other government and law enforcement officials to plan and ensure the integration and coordination of police services within (the scope of local government.)

Prepares and administers the department budget. Assesses the need for new equipment and staff.

Interviews, selects, evaluate, commend and disciplines subordinate staff. Develops, approves training programs and conducts staff meeting.

Develops staff schedules, organizes work 10 be done by staff. Assigns staff to specific cases and special projects. Coordinates activities of staff to ensure effective coverage and prompt response. Trains staff in law enforcement methods, application of policies and procedures, use of law enforcement tools and evaluates staff performance.

Prepares reports and correspondence to other government agencies, members of the public and are consistent with policies and procedures.

Directs and instructs subordinate staff in the requirements of jobs. Trains staff in work procedures, resolution problems, responds to police department problems concerns and complaints.
Responds to formal grievances. issues warnings and reprimands for inadequate performance, improper behavior and imposes disciplinary actions. Meets with local citizens, community groups, service organizations, others about law enforcement service and crime prevention within the colony. Investigates and resolves complaints and concerns regarding department activities.

Responds to law enforcement emergencies, provide direct control and other law enforcement services. Participates in routine patrol within the colony observing business, residential activities, traffic management and other events in order to maintain high visibility for the police department.

Follows all safety rules and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
