Sports Editor
The Latrobe Bulletin is seeking a talented, full-time Sports Editor. This position plans, coordinates and executes coverage of local sports in and around Latrobe, Ligonier, Derry and surrounding communities. This position will actively report and write a mix of content, becoming the face of high school sports coverage locally through the use of stories, photos, video, fan polls, and other tactics to grow audience and subscribers.
Responsibilities include comprehensive coverage of local school sporting events as well as features of high school sports and community recreational activities. Digital photography skills required. This position also coordinates coverage among a team of contract writers plus a part-time staff writer.
We are looking for an energetic individual with solid writing fundamentals, the ability to establish and cultivate sources, build community contributors, a desire to be part of the community and a willingness to work hard. The ideal candidate is a reliable self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of AP style.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or its equivalent of education and experience preferred.
- Two years of experience in a sports news environment preferred.
- Experience with college newspaper definitely counts!
