Position Overview: The Purchasing Agent will provide transactional and contracting support to the Procurement Services Department. Day to day responsibilities include developing purchase orders and contracts, facilitating bidding processes such as electronic bidding, (Requests for Proposals/Quotes/Information), using SAP to input and track orders, assisting university customers on matters of requisitions, orders and proper application of the Commonwealth procurement code, contacting suppliers to place, verify and remedy orders and contracts. To be successful the right candidate will have previous experience in purchasing/ procurement (institutional procurement a plus), working knowledge of SAP, office systems, Microsoft applications, work well under pressure, embrace the challenge of working in a self-directed, cooperative environment and can tactfully communicate across a diverse community involving students, coworkers, customers and suppliers. The position is located at the main campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
- Working experience with the material management functions of SAP
- Undergraduate degree in Supply Management, or experience equivalent
- CPSM, CPM or strong commitment in obtaining accreditation
- Knowledge of procurement to pay processes
