Project Coordinator — Southport/Tyndall Air Force Base
This position will close on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 3 p.m. Central.
Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for the position of a project coordinator working between the Southport and Tyndall Air Force Base offices. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Two years’ experience performing utility coordination or project management is required, as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain government clearance.
JOB SUMMARY
Follows and promotes workplace safety in the organization. This position will play a significant role in the execution of the Tyndall AFB Utilities Privatization Contract. The job exists to assure full compliance with the terms and spirit of the Contract. The primary role of this position is to track the progress of Tyndall jobs, responsible for keeping deadlines, following up on all jobs and equipment, and keeping track of who is present and working on each project (both GCEC employees and contractors). Employee may be called in to work at any time. Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma, or equivalent, is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Related Experience: At least two years of experience Associate’s degree or performing utility coordination or project management required.
Other: Must have the ability to pass preemployment drug screen and maintain government security clearance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• MUST have excellent oral and written communication skills and legible handwriting.
• MUST have excellent organization and planning skills with minimum supervision.
• MUST have excellent customer service skills including conflict negotiation and empathy.
• MUST have basic math ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• MUST have the ability to operate all office equipment including but not limited to computer, printer, and mail processing machine.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Two-way communication with COO to receive direction, instructions and approvals to provide work related information in a timely manner. Utility Administrator must communicate with other staff members to provide office support and assistance as needed.
External:
Utility Administrator must communicate with cooperative contractors to explain expectations. They must also demonstrate the awareness that the job exists to effectively serve Tyndall AFB and the public understanding for support of the cooperative.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
• Ensures the safety and security of all members and GCEC employees.
• Ensures adherence to quality standards, confidentiality, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
• Assists employees who are handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
• Engages customers who enter and exit the establishment.
• Assure full compliance with the terms of our Tyndall AFB contract.
• Track the progress of all Tyndall AFB jobs.
• Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met.
• Follow-up on all jobs and equipment.
• Keep track of all personnel (GCEC and contractors) that work on Tyndall AFB projects.
• Provides direct administrative support to the COO.
• Performs clerical and administrative work for Tyndall Air Force Base.
• Identifies and communicates deficiencies in Tyndall contract to Management.
• Assists with running reports for TAFB contract.
• Maintains and organizes a filing system for all files and records.
• Updates schedule of events. • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work will take place in a general office environment, with flexibility to work during emergency situations. Some travel to multiple offices is required. Must have physical ability in reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and light physical work. Visual acuity required in office machine operation.
