Para Educator/Teacher's Aide (School to be determined upon hire.) The position includes, but is not limited to, providing 1 to 1 assistance, as well as academic support and curriculum modifications for students with disabilities. The applicant will be required to assist classroom teachers in making accommodations to assignments and to facilitate students' independence while implementing IEPs. Employing the use of behavior management plans is also required for various students. The position may include providing 1 to 1 assistance to students, as well as supporting the school nurse with the physical needs of some children such as toileting and wheelchair transitions. Experience administering behavioral management plans, including physical management training for students with disabilities is preferred. Hourly rate per union agreement (approximately $19), benefits included.

Temporary Health Aide: School to be determined, one Temporary Health Aide per school.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be willing to assist school nurse with management of potentially infectious COVID-19 students/staff. Responsible for supervising student/staff in isolation room until dismissed from school (Full PPE and training to be provided). Current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, preferred. Ability to provide basic first aid, required. Experience working in a school, preferred. Proficiency with electronic school nurse charting program, SNAP, preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality of school medical records and information, required. Proficiency in clerical work and office procedures, required. Ability to accept supervision from School Nurse and Health Services Coordinator, required.                      

Work Period: School year

Hours: 5 hours per day when students are physically in the buildings and working days to be determined by Superintendent and Health Director

Salary: Hourly rate $23.28 x 5 hours per assigned day – timesheet non-union position, Health insurance benefit available for employee only

Building Substitute: School to be determined 5 days per week (Days of week and specific school to be discussed at time of interview) $90 Per Day / Health Insurance for individual only / No leave or accrual time / Timesheet position--only days worked are paid. Available 2020 – 2021 School Year Bachelor's degree (in any subject area), required CT teaching endorsement or enrolled/planning to enroll in certification program, preferred.
