Deputy County Counsel
Deputy County Counsel ($79,539.20- $96,678.40 annually) At the direction of County Counsel, the Deputy County Counsel position will provide legal counsel and representation to County departments, special districts and the Board of Supervisors pertaining to their powers, duties and the law respecting the exercise of such power and duties. Assist County Counsel in the preparation of complex litigation pertaining to County legal matters. Review and prepare contracts, leases, purchase agreements and/or employee service agreements.
This position's primary duties will provide a representation of the Child Welfare Service in juvenile court dependency and adoption matters. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal writing and research skills, strong oral advocacy abilities, a commitment to the public sector, and demonstrate the ability to be a team player in a dynamic fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has developed the skills required to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and education; and is able to work well with a five-member Board of Supervisors through effective communications, completed staff work and a broad management perspective. A minimum of two years' experience in civil litigation including trial experience is required. Possession of a Juris Doctorate, and current membership in the California State Bar is required. Possess or able to obtain CA Driver's license.
Salary dependent on experience.
