Position: Deputy Prosecuting Attorney

Location: Ferry County Prosecutor's Office, Republic, WA

Employment Type: Full time, non-exempt

Starting Salary: $55,000 to $65,000.00 Depends on Experience, with benefits

Posting: The Prosecutor's Office has a Deputy position available immediately, and is seeking qualified, interested applicants. The position is open until filled.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: representing the State in misdemeanor and some juvenile and felony cases (including case reviews, charging decisions, pretrial hearings, negotiations, and trial); appeals (including briefs and oral argument, when required); prosecuting infractions; representing the State in contempt hearings, parentage, and child support actions; miscellaneous research and civil projects as required. The Deputy Prosecutor will also act as Deputy Coroner for the County (training is provided).

Requirements: Must be admitted to the Washington State Bar Association. Must have knowledge of the Washington State laws, rules of evidence and procedure, court rules, and Washington Rules of Professional Conduct and ethical standards. Prior experience is a plus, but not required if the applicant is otherwise qualified. Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including telephones, computers, and copy and fax machines. Must have the ability to drive and to travel to locations outside of the office or the courthouse. New law school graduates may apply, but any offer of employment would be contingent upon passage of the Washington State Bar.
