Database Engineer #R14581

Database Engineer, Pitney Bowes, Shelton, CT. Work on all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake and Mongo database development and support in a multi-tier cloud hosted enterprise application environment. Design and implement DB deployment automation using DevOps technologies and best practices. Develop and maintain database integrity, security, HA and participate in DR planning. Translate requirements into design blueprint, and work with PM, SME, developers to design, implement, test and deploy database and report sub systems. Develop data visualizations and reporting to drive messaging and recommendations. Identify and analyze large volume of raw data to showcase business insights, metrics and trends. Work with Data Analysts to produce required design specifications to ensure data solutions work well and fulfill business needs. Develop dashboards for reporting using Tableau or Power-BI and correlate business objective to the methodology surrounding data analytics. Provide innovative leadership for ongoing daily and monthly activities including database maintenance, performance tuning, parameter tuning. Maintain and contribute to internal team-knowledge documents/runbooks and SMTD and DB development based on policies, guidelines and standards.

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or a closely related field and at least 5 years of progressive work experience in database development with software engineering groups in production support environment.  Must also possess at least 5 years DBA/DBE experience in the following areas: administering MSSQL Active-Active, Active-Passive Cluster, Peer to peer replication, transactional replication and/or online reorg/reindexing; internal structure of indexes, statistics and system information schemas; performance tuning and optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools; performance tuning using MSSQL database partitioning, both instance and SQL statement level tuning and/or ability to setup oracle partitioning; and HA and DR including Log shipping, mirroring and Always-On technologies, with emphasis on work experience with Windows OS; at least 5 years of experience with source control systems, database versioning and release processes; at least 3 years of professional experience with Agile practices includes Confluence, Jira, Scrum meetings, and Azure; at least 3 years of professional experience with Agile practices includes Confluence, Jira, Scrum meetings, and Azure; at least 2 years of experience in data analytics including following areas: use of Snowflake and other Data Warehouse platforms to store and manage data to perform analytics tasks; developing and maintaining databases, implement data collection, data transformation and data cleansing processes; visualization with Tableau or Power-BI; and Python programming to explore machine learning and AI.
