Brook Valley History
We began in 1996 as the Gifford Farm Project. The original setting was a one room building on the Gifford Farm property in Bellevue. A growing enrollment prompted a move to southwest Omaha in 1999 and the new name - Brook Valley School. We serve students with severe special needs from eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
Brook Valley School students have unique abilities and disabilities that include:
•Autism spectrum disorders
•Developmental and language delays
•Sensory processing difficulties
•Emotional regulation problems
•Behavioral problems
Our Vision
To be able to give students what they need; a safe environment that maintains their dignity
To provide students a variety of education support services
To provide parents and families a support system
To provide a different approach to learning in a small alternative setting
To replace aggressive, disruptive or wandering behaviors with improved communication, problem solving, and social skills
Program Elements
Brook Valley School financially operates independently from ESU #3. Local school districts contract with Brook Valley School to provide special education services on an individual basis to its students. The tuition received from local school districts provides for the individualized education program of each student and is used entirely to cover education expenses.
