Emporia State University is seeking to fill the Assistant Director of Facilities - Physical Plant and Utilities position within the University Facilities department. This is a senior level administrative position reporting to the Director of University Facilities. It is salaried/exempt, with salary based on experience and education. Position SummaryThe duties of the Assistant Director include, but are not limited to:- Oversee a number of physical plant shops and utility services within university facilities including construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, steam and utility distribution systems. - Effectively lead several trade shops, and coordinate project and maintenance schedules. - Ensure the proper application of IBC building codes, life safety codes, accessibility codes, environmental regulations, and state of Kansas construction regulations. - Use AutoCAD/Revit and other common computer programs. - Review contract/construction documents and specifications for university compliance and commissioning requirements. - Lead the construction estimating and scheduling processes. QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor's degree in construction science, engineering, architectural engineering, architecture, or a related field.- Five (5) years of experience managing construction, maintenance and utility operations of a large facility or institution.o Additional related experience may substitute for degree requirements on a year-for-year basis.- Possess a valid driver's license, or obtain one within 6 months of employment.Preferred:- Ten (10) years of experience with managing construction, maintenance and utility operations of a large facility or institution. - A professional Kansas architectural or engineering license.- A valid driver's license.
