Occupancy Specialist

The Elizabeth City Housing Authority of Elizabeth City, NC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Occupancy Specialist. The Occupancy Specialist is responsible for processing applicants for housing and performing a variety of clerical tasks related to the admission and continued occupancy of residents to include determining tenant eligibility, conducting reexaminations, enforcing all lease provisions, maintaining applicant and tenant files, performing unit inspections. An Associates Arts degree in Administration, Property Management, Sociology, Liberal Arts, or related field is required. Must have five years experience in clerical work or interviewing, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to low-income housing and Authority policies and procedures are preferred. Current or previous employment with a PHA a plus. Must be a Certified Occupancy Specialist or able to attain certification within one year of hire. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Housing Authority offers an excellent employee benefit package.
