The State of California Department of Water Resources Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) Electrician, Mechanic, Operator, and Utility Craftsworker (UCW) Apprenticeship Programs will be accepting applications for testing on May 2, 2019, from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm only. Due to the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, all HEP Operator Apprentices will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation before hire.
You must appear in person to submit your State Application (STD 678/Rev 12/2017). Applications will be available for completion at the site, and accepted one day only - May 2, 2019. No exceptions. All applicants must provide picture identification which includes their name, such as a Driver's License, in order to file their application.
For admittance to the HEP Electrician, Mechanic and Operator Apprentice examination, applicants much meet the following minimum qualifications: Either - One year of experience in the California State service performing duties of a Service Assistant (Maintenance and Operations). Or - Education equivalent to graduation from high school.
Starting salary for the HEP Electrician and Mechanic classifications is $3,903.00 and progresses to $6,387.00 per 6-month period. Starting salary for the HEP Operator classification is $3,903.00 and progresses to $6,032.00 per 6-month period.
For admittance to the UCW Apprentice examination, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: Either - One year of experience in California State service performing a variety of general operation and maintenance duties of a Service Assistant (Maintenance and Operations). Or - Ability to communicate at a level required for successful job performance. Special License Requirement - Possession of a valid permanent California Class C driver's license.
Salary for the UCW classification is $3,805.00 and progresses to $5,269.00 per 6-month period. All salary information contained in this message is subject to change.
