VENTURA COUNTY

WHAT WE OFFER
The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package that includes:
- Educational Incentive - An educational incentive of 2.5% for completion of an associate's degree, 3.5% for completion of a bachelor's degree, OR 5% for completion of a graduate's degree.
- Bilingual Incentive - Based on agency need, proficiency levels by exam are $.69 per hour (Level I), $1.00 per hour (Level II), or $1.32 per hour (Level III).
- Vacation Accrual – New regular, full-time employees shall accrue approximately 14 days of vacation a year for the first 10,400 hours or 5 years of service; vacation accruals increase at 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 20 years of service topping out at 26 days a year and 400 hours of vacation hours banked.
- Annual Leave Redemption – After 14,560 hours of continuous County service an employee may elect to "cash in" or redeem up to 80 hours of vacation accrued in the same year after using 80 hours of vacation in the preceding 12 months.
- Sick Leave - Full time regular employees accrue 3.08 hours of sick leave per pay period with an advance at hire of 40.04 hours which will be balanced at the completion of 13 bi-weekly pay periods.
- Deferred Compensation - Eligible to participate in the County's 401(k) Shared Savings Plan and/or the Section 457 Plan. This position is eligible for up to a 3.00% match on your 401(k) contributions.
- Health Plans – Full time employees are given a flexible credit allowance to offset the purchase of medical, dental, and/or vision insurance for you and your dependents.
- Employee only - $497 per biweekly pay period
- Employee plus one dependent - $678 per biweekly pay period

- Flexible Spending Accounts - Choice of participation in pre-tax benefit for IRS approved dependent care and health care expenses.
- Pension Plan - Both the County and employees contribute to the County's Retirement Plan. If eligible, reciprocity may be established with other public retirement systems, such as PERS.
- Holidays - 12 paid days per year which includes a scheduled floating holiday.

THE POSITION
Under general direction, develops procedures and analyzes user requirements for digital workplace and enterprise business solutions; designs complete, integrated solutions for business computers for specific office environments; provides technical support to department/agency personnel for user interface of office systems and enterprise software; and may provide leadership/supervision to others.
PAYROLL TITLES and APPROXIMATE SALARIES:
Office Systems Coordinator III - $2,756.16 to $3,865.77 biweekly: This classification is responsible for meeting with users to determine their requirements for office systems and then translating those requirements into a set of procedures that can be programmed to provide business computer-based alternatives to typical office tasks. This position is responsible for considering all facets of a user's environment and the possible integration of office systems to centrally located computing facilities.
Office Systems Coordinator IV - $3,275.07 to $4,349.56 biweekly: This classification will hold primary responsibility for liaison with users and IT professionals to establish the appropriate objectives for developing new or enhancing existing business computer-based office systems. It also has responsibility for directing all facets of a project, which, in itself, may encompass several systems and/or user divisions.
AGENCY/DEPARTMENT: Various departments
Office Systems Coordinator III/IV is represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, Temporary, Fixed-term, Intermittent, or Extra Help vacancies. There are currently multiple vacancies throughout the County in various departments/agencies.
If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.
Examples Of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Communicates with vendors, conducts technical assessments of products, and coordinates product procurement.
- Coordinates or executes software and hardware configuration, installation of computers/devices, local area networks, and data communication systems.
- Provides technical support for user interface of office systems and enterprise business solutions.
- Conducts hardware maintenance and repairs.
- Develops system processes and procedures for users and maintains system documentation.
- Provides training to staff on the use of digital workplace and enterprise office solutions.
- Identifies and addresses ongoing issues related to network and data communication and coordinates resolutions with external agencies and vendors.
- Collaborates with others in designing and analyzing data communication network infrastructure.
- Installs and maintains data communication equipment and devices.
- Evaluates network and data communication performance and reliability, implementing proactive measures to ensure optimal operation.
- Provides complex office systems application design and analysis (OSC III). Coordinates specific ongoing and proposed office system projects for enterprise servers, individual computers/devices, local area networks, and data communication systems (OSC IV).
- May support department/agency management in setting priorities and planning digital workplace requirements (OSC III). Assists management in defining office system priorities and strategies (OSC IV).
- May oversee applications being developed by staff (OSC III). May supervise subordinate staff and track workload progress (OSC IV).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Extensive (OSC III) to progressively responsible (OSC IV) experience in computer-based office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Office Systems Coordinator III: The required knowledge, skills and abilities may be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with four (4) or more years of related experience.
Office Systems Coordinator IV: The required knowledge, skills and abilities may be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with five (5) or more years of related experience to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Related computer-based office systems coordination experience may include responsibilities such as providing technical assistance and support to system users, coordinating tasks related to computer office systems, developing systems procedures, and analyzing, designing, and developing office systems applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Depending on assignment, a valid California driver license may be required.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
- Most positions require keyboarding, fine manipulation, and grasping.
- Some positions may require kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, crawling, twisting upper body, reaching at or above shoulders.
- Some positions may require pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
- Some positions may require driving.
