Highland County Emergency Medical Services Chief
The County of Highland, Virginia is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Medical
Services Chief. This is a full-time position responsible for all administrative and operational
aspects of Emergency Medical Services and responding to emergency medical calls as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED. Released as a Virginia Certified Emergency Medical Technician; ALS or Paramedic level is preferred. Considerable experience in EMS preferred. CPR and EVOC certifications required. Virginia EMS Education Coordinator and Field Training Officer experience preferred. ACLS, ICS certifications of appropriate level and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certifications required within 12 months of employment. Leadership and management training required within 12 months of employment. Valid driver’s license and acceptable criminal and driving records. Successful candidate will have the ability to interface and coordinate with volunteer rescue squads.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The expected starting salary for the position is negotiable (depending on qualifications of the selected candidate). Relocation expenses are negotiable. The County offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid holidays/vacation/sick leave, health, vision and dental insurance and hazardous duty retirement through the Virginia Retirement System.
