Senior Network Administrator - Database Administrator Full-time position. Pay Depends on Experience with excellent benefits. Looking for 5 years experience. CompTIA and Cisco Certified. 4 year Technical Degree.

The Network Administrator is primarily responsible for the upkeep and overall operational status of critical Tribal network and communication systems.

  • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the internal computer network, including planning and other activities reserved for the most complex issues.
  • Provide technical administration and expertise in an environment consisting of mixed NOS’s (Windows and Linux), various servers and roles: Windows Server 2003—2019, Active Directory Infrastructure, Microsoft Exchange Server, VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory Group Policies, DFS, VPN, System Center 2012, Windows 7 ̶ 10 and domain account administration, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP.
  • Manage Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010/2016 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM environments.
  • Office 2010, 2013 and 2016 technical experience.
  • Configure and manage all Cisco equipment: routers, switches, wireless bridges, firewalls; Cisco Unified Messaging and Call Manager system, NAS, Dell Storage devices.
  • Manage fault tolerance & Symantec back-up systems.
  • Plan & manage shared resources.
  • Maintain network security.
  • Troubleshoots and solves the most complex network connectivity problems, including monitoring the network and servers for problems, diagnosing problems, and taking the appropriate corrective measures to ensure an expedient resolution.
  • Monitor network performance data and submit recommendations for optimization to the IT Director.
  • Maintain technical documentation of the tribal network configuration (ie: network diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.).
  • Maintain records and technical documentation for essential hardware and software equipment (including licensing).
  • Performs database server administration and associated daily administrative tasks.
  • Responsible for ensuring availability of existing SQL and other operational databases.
  • Responsible for monitoring, tuning, change control, scheduled tasks, backup jobs, recovery processes, alerts, and database storage needs for operational databases.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot, and correct problems that occur within operational databases.
  • Design and implement of distributed and high availability database servers.
  • Document, develop, test and implement updates to operational databases.
  • Design and implement replication solutions for operational databases.
  • Assists with designing, evaluating, and testing new database applications to determine implementation impacts and issues.
  • Meets with internal and external clients to identify database requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
  • On an as-needed basis, performs or assists with database development needed to facilitate solutions that meet the Tribe’s requirements.
  • Using available the Tribe’s resources, conducts solution testing to ensure that databases integrate smoothly into the current operational environment.
  • Performs analysis of existing processes and procedures and makes recommendations when changes are required. Recommends system enhancements to maximize application efficiency.
  • Responsible for providing trend analysis information to the I.T. Manager to allow informed decisions regarding resource management.
  • Works with appropriate departmental resources to ensure that all database solutions are integrated into the Tribe’s database standards and that all databases are tested to ensure complete compatibility with the Tribe’s hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Performs user support when a user is having a problem with database operation or performance.
  • Responds to after-hours database problems.
  • Notifies the Tribe’s I.T. Manager in the event of an outage, virus, or major system failure that could affect users.
  • Attends IT meetings.
  • Has advanced Microsoft Transact SQL (T-SQL) programming skills.
  • Ability to write custom reports from relational databases.
  • Ability to write custom stored procedures.
  • Ability to create DTS packages with custom transformations.
  • Has advanced experience in Microsoft SQL Server security.
  • Provide help desk/telephone support to end-users.
  • Provide technical assistance for hardware and software purchases.
  • Provide network and application training to end-users and trainees.
  • Assist the IT Director with telecommunications issues and reporting.
  • Assist the IT Director in developing short & long-range goals & objectives.
  • Maintain professional certifications as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5 years of progressive experience
  • Cisco Certification(s)
  • Microsoft Certification(s).
  • Network + Certification.
  • Security + Certification.
  • A+ Certification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year technical degree in networking / related field or equivalent.
  • 3 years managing a Microsoft physical & virtual server environment with strong TCP-IP networking experience required.
  • 3 to 4 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA with architectural and database design experience required.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL databases, their design and administration, and its SQL language on both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 through 2017, Microsoft Access, Windows 2003 through 2019, networking and client server systems required.
  • Extensive knowledge of current database technologies.
  • Project management experience, and ability to recommend and implement IT solutions.
  • Ability to lead and develop individuals within group.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good reading, writing, oral communication, and clerical skills.
