Division Chair for Nursing & Allied Health Programs Reports to: Vice President for Academic Affairs

Duties and Responsibilities:

Classification: Faculty

Status: Full time, exempt

Length of Employment: 12-month continuing position

Job Overview: The Division Chair for Nursing and Allied Health Programs provides leadership in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and assessment plans for educational programs in the Nursing and Allied Health Programs. The Division Chair plans the strategies for annual implementation; relates directly to the Allied Health communities in terms of recruitment and needs assessment; promotes integration of programs to the College and external community through services, committees, and activities; promotes non-credit offerings; maintains accreditation relationships; and serves on Academic Council as well as other campus committees.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for the Nursing and Allied Health Programs
  • Promotes and markets the programs to the community and works to protect the integrity and viability of clinical sites and facilities
  • Fosters an atmosphere of inclusiveness and support for diverse faculty and students
  • Maintains close scrutiny on the regional marketplace and investigates need for and helps prepare applications for new programs to satisfy market demands
  • Is accountable for Division's assessment processes
  • Works through the College's Curriculum Development Committee to assure regular completion of program/curriculum review processes
  • Serves as primary point of contact for Health Care Cooperative
  • Alliance Programs at area technology centers
  • Represents Connors at various events in the service area to promote health care careers and programs
  • Actively recruits students into Nursing and Allied Health programs
  • Provides academic and career advising to students majoring in one of the allied health degrees
  • Assists students in transition to other higher education institutions
  • Provides information and referrals to students needing services such as: tutoring, testing, career counseling, financial aid, disability services, etc. Serves on committees as assigned

Education/Experience Required:

  • Master's degree in Nursing required; Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution preferred
  • Evidence of current practice with a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a nursing faculty member
  • Minimum of three (3) years' teaching experience as a full-time nursing faculty member in a nursing education program leading to licensure required; Five (5) years' experience preferred One (1) year successful administration/management experience in nursing required
  • Progressive history of advancement in Nursing/Allied Health education administration with experience at the academic department chair or academic director's level preferable
  • Proven ability to lead people and to manage resources in a large Allied Health program is needed
  • Must have ability to work as a liaison to the health care community and foster strategic relationships that will advance the core mission of the College and the Department
  • Working knowledge of marketing and recruiting diverse faculty is a must Well versed in alternative and traditional teaching and learning methods is necessary
  • Ability to design program offerings to maximize consumer needs is preferred
  • Experience with the administration of scholarship programs preferred
  • Experience with advisement, guidance counseling at a two-year college is preferred
  • Experience with student recruitment preferred

Special Requirements:

  • Job will require some travel in the service area
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and occasional weekends
