Outside Plant and Construction Manager
This is a key position responsible for Broadband Utilities existing and future outside plant work. Responsible for engineering, designing, managing projects, and supervising crews engaged in directional boring, trenching, fiber splicing, and construction. Duties include day-to-day plant maintenance and repair of the fiber optic network, as well as planning for future expansion of the fiber optic network. This is a 'hands on' position and requires working knowledge and experience with communications equipment installation practices, general facilities operations, and maintenance.
The position reports directly to the County Broadband Manager. B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent training with 5 or more year's technical experience in design and management of communications networks and colocation facilities required. MS Office experience – working knowledge of Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Project. Outside Plant Software experience (AutoCAD, ESRI, etc.), Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), ETA Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) desired. Annual salary is $54,255.60 with cell phone allowance.
This position is responsible for terminating, splicing, testing and documenting fiber optic cable according to customer requirements and must update and maintain project tracking information such as production sheets, material used, time sheets and customer required paperwork. Must have experience with fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, bucket trucks, fork lift experience, and be familiar with EIA/TIA standards, applicable building codes, fiber optic splice closures, OTDR testing, Optical power meter and Fiber Identifier.
The position reports directly to the Outside Plant and Construction Manager. AS degree or equivalent training with 2 or more year's working experience in splicing, testing and documenting fiber optic cable required. MS Office experience – working knowledge of Word, Power Point, and Excel. Fiber Splicing Software experience (AutoCAD, ESRI, etc.), Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), ETA Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) desired. Annual salary is $44,616 with cell phone allowance.
