Senior Water Rights Engineer/Hydrologist
The Colorado River District seeks a candidate to fill a full-time Senior Water Rights Engineer/Hydrologist position in the Glenwood Springs office.
This position will serve as the resident expert on technical issues and represent the Colorado River District and its interests in working with various groups and state agencies on subject areas. The Senior Water Rights Engineer/Hydrologist serves as the staff expert in surface water and groundwater hydrology, water rights administration and water rights matters within the Colorado River Basin.
A successful candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of Colorado water rights development, operation, and administration, particularly in Water Divisions 4, 5, and 6. This position requires a demonstrated mastery of principles, policies and politics of modern water project operations and administration in Colorado. A candidate must exhibit strong communication skills with the ability to communicate succinctly, effectively and professionally in difficult situations with divergent groups. This position requires critical thinking and the ability to utilize data and science to advocate for Colorado River District's interests and find unique solutions to matters of concern to the District.
