The Upward Bound Director is responsible for the overall management and execution of a program grant.
The Upward Bound Director is responsible for the recruitment, evaluation and training of staff; student recruitment, selection, and evaluation; develops curriculum for the summer program with academic advisors/coordinators. The position encompasses responsibilities in the areas of grant writing and management; compiles and reports data; writes required reports. The Upward Bound Director is responsible for chairing an advisory committee, outreach with communities and schools, coordinates with school principals, and public relations.
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples of ideal qualifications include Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in administration, counseling, education, or related field and three years of experience in supervising an educational program, or equivalent education and experience
Special Skills and Abilities: knowledge of special educational programs, especially those benefiting low-income students; grants management; public relations tools; curriculum development; budget development and management. Ability to: communicate effectively; develop and execute programs; supervisory skills.
