To provide consultation, project management, and support services in instructional strategies, design, content creation, use of various communication modes (e.g., websites, video, audio), assessment, and technology in the development of curricula for higher educational learning. Reporting to the Director of Technology Enhanced Learning, the Instructional Designer will provide course design and delivery expertise to support academic programs and faculty development in all instructional modalities. Additionally, this position will advance CMC’s commitment to accessible course materials and accessible instructional technologies.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment, or related field, along with two years of related experience in instructional design experience in online and hybrid learning environments; or a Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, or applicable combination of education and experience necessary for the responsibilities of the position.
Minimum of two years Higher Education teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy, project management, computer competency, and experience with Canvas or another major learning management system (LMS)
Special skills or abilities related to position: demonstrated innovation in instructional design and development, knowledge of online course design principles, such as Quality Matters, knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, knowledge of accessibility compliance standards and design practices, and the ability to learn new software applications used for teaching and learning activities. Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
