Under the direction of the campus Chief Student Affairs officer, the Director of Student Life and Housing oversees campus residence hall(s); residence life counseling; student life programming; dining hall and conference services; student conduct and judicial affairs.
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples include a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Counseling/Psychology, Education, Health and Human Services or a related field desired and four years of experience working in student housing or related environment, or an applicable combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of: theory, principles, and practices of student housing; counseling and advising practices and methods; laws pertaining to student rights and educational law.
Ability to: understand non-verbal communication and recognize changes in behavior; strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally competent environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, and community members having diverse backgrounds.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred.
