Description
The City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) is searching a highly qualified Equipment Operator to be a part of a top notch department. It is the departments responsibility to keeping the City recreation areas and parks presentable, clean and safe for City of Richmon residents and visitors. This position supports the many events and sporting events held that are sponsored by PRCF.
Duties include but are not limited to
- Operating power equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, power tools and hand tools.
- Operating and maintaining tractors, loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks for athletic field maintenance a dn special projects.
- Operating ride-on, carry amd push-type equipment for maintaining and preparing athletic fields including specialized ball diamond maintenance equipment.
- Removing trash and debris from athletic field sites.
- Cleaning and restocking restrooms as needed.
- Removing leaves and other tree debris from courts, sidewalks, gutters, fence lines, etc.
- Laying out and preparing athletic fields for soccer, football, etc. • Dragging and marking softball/baseball fields and prepare them for play.
- Renovating softball/baseball diamonds during the off-season to keep them in optimum and safe playing condition.
- Clearing snow and applying ice melt at various locations. May be required to push snow with tractor, loader or operate truck with snowplow.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
Specific knowledge related to area of responsibility such as paint applications, paint removal, application of dry wall, playground safety, playground inspections, etc.; Usage of various tools and equipment; Safety rules regarding the operation of various equipment and tools: Breaking down and rebuilding equipment; Cleaning an area of responsibility; Communicating with various internal and external departments; Conducting snow removal; Performing minor repairs and replacing damaged equipment; Reading a tape measure and a diagram; Reading and writing; Setting up and assisting with special events; Operating light trucks; Operating heavy equipment such as bobcats or zero turn mowers; Operating light equipment and tools such as blowers, edging tools, sprayers, shovels, rakes, and brooms; Follow standard procedures and established practices; Work with others, including in a strenuous work environment; Problem solve; Operating power equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, power tools and hand tools; Operating and maintaining tractors, loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks for athletic field maintenance and special projects; Operating ride-on, carry and push-type equipment for maintaining and preparing athletic fields including specialized ball diamond maintenance equipment; Removing trash and debris from athletic field sites; Cleaning and restocking restrooms as needed: Removing leaves and other tree debris from courts, sidewalks, gutters, fence lines, etc.; enovating softball/baseball diamonds during the off-season to keep them in optimum and safe playing condition; Clearing snow and applying ice melt at various locations. Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Requires six months of experience operating equipment related to assignment.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
