Crossing Guard

The City of Mt. Pleasant is seeking reliable individuals for regular part-time and substitute Crossing Guard positions. Must be available during school opening and closing hours, Monday through Friday, throughout the school year. $18.00 per hour.


Duties include
Safely assisting school children in crossing busy intersections by halting vehicles through the use of mechanical signals and/or hand-held stop signs; maintaining order among children waiting to cross the street at designated crossing points; permitting street crossing only when safe to do so; reporting crosswalk-related traffic law violations to your immediate supervisor; and, instilling an awareness in school children of safety measures necessary for safe street crossing. 

Physical demands and work environment: Repetitive hand motions; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 10 lbs; exposure daily to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time. 
Crossing Guards work approximately 2 hours per day at a designated post. Must be 18 years of age or older.
