Natural Resource Assistant (Temporary Position) Staff members are needed to assist with the City of Mentor’s white-tailed deer management program. Natural Resource Assistants will work closely with Natural Resource Specialists and the Mentor Police Department in completing deer culling duties. The Natural Resource Assistant is responsible for collecting and maintaining data throughout the duration of the Deer Program, as well as completing other deer culling activities, such as setting up tree stands, tagging deer, and transporting harvested animals.
Qualifications include a completed degree (or currently enrolled college student) of wildlife management, natural resources, ecology, biology or a related field. Must have a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include experience using 4-wheeled drive equipment and trailers as well as Microsoft Office and GIS software experience. Knowledge of native and non-native herbaceous and woody plan species is preferred. Must be able to work a varied schedule comprised of outdoor activities (in all weather conditions) and in the office, which may include evening and weekend hours.
The rate of pay is $10.00 per hour.
