Light and Power Department
The City of LaFayette is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Superintendent of our Light and Power Department. The Superintendent position is both a management and an operational position. (Duties listed may not include all tasks which may be assigned to positions in this class.) The Electrical Superintendent plans and oversees the operation, maintenance, and personnel of the Electric Department. This employee assumes final departmental responsibility for the electrical system and services, develops long-range plans and supporting budgets, develops and implements policies and procedures to achieve desired objectives, and coordinates the activities of the department with other governmental agencies and with private groups.
The successful candidate should possess extensive administrative and professional management experience with a private or public utility. The successful candidate should also possess extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering as applied to problems of public electrical utilities, possess considerable knowledge of business management and business research techniques applicable to public utilities, and possess the ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the public and governmental officials.
The person selected will need to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check, and shall have a valid CDL license.
