Law Department City of Kettering, OH Seeking an exceptional, executive-level Secretary for the City Law Department's civil division. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform diversified secretarial and administrative tasks including typing, filing, and utilizing a computer for word processing. Duties include composing and typing legal memoranda, records, reports, legal documents, and other materials from clear copy or rough draft; serving as office receptionist and performing a variety of advanced clerical tasks related to Law Department functions.
The ideal applicant will have: excellent administrative, organizational, customer service, technological, and communication skills, a high level of proficiency in office computer applications, an eagerness to learn new software programs; and a good working knowledge of administrative procedures and the legal system. High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with legal secretary certificate, associates' degree related to legal field, or any equivalent combination of formal training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred qualifications include: degree in paralegal studies or paralegal experience, experience performing legal research, three to five years of work experience in law firm or law office, experience in municipal or other government organizations and the ability to use Lexis Nexis. Pay range $21.90 per hour to $31.05 per hour; entry rate contingent upon candidate's experience, qualifications and related skills, knowledge and abilities; excellent benefits.
