THE OPPORTUNITY
* Responsible for the management, supervision, implementation, planning and coordination of the City's strategic communications plan.
* Managing the city's branding and marketing programs, policies and procedures, including the creation of communication standards to maintain consistency in quality, appearance and content.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage materials and information used for communications, public relations, and general information.
* Assist City departments with developing, researching, writing and designing various communications that help citizens understand city policies, programs, and services.
* Manage the content of communications to ensure that the perspectives of the Council, City administration, and departments are considered.
* Develop and distribute press releases and maintain regular communication with media contacts.
* Manage web and social media activities. Ensure content is appropriate and clearly written.
* Interact frequently with the Information Technology staff on web-related issues, including planning for and implementation of web enhancements.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations or multi-media related field, or relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
* Three to five years' experience in writing, public relations, multi-media or other communications-related field or relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
* Substantial ability to write clearly, condensing complex material into meaningful information for citizens and other interested parties across multiple multi-media platforms.
* Working knowledge of community relations, techniques and best practices.
* Ability to learn elements of City operations, programs, recurring events and public process.
* Working ability to develop and implement community education and marketing strategies, programs and materials and determine their effectiveness.
COMPENSATION
$65,749 - $88,782 depending on qualifications with outstanding benefits.
