Education Coach and Family Support Specialist
Classification: Exempt Full-Time Employee
Reports to: Child Development and Education Manager and Family and Community Engagement Manager
Summary/Objective:
To provide technical assistance to teaching staff by implementing and demonstrating hands-on techniques for working with infants and toddlers; to help create developmentally appropriate learning environments (both indoor and outdoor); and to teach and monitor the providers staff members’ implementation of Head Start Performance Standards. To implement strengths-based and family-centered/family-led family engagement and family support services and programming.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Education/Formal Training: Preferably a BA/BS degree in social work or other human service related field or A BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching infants and toddlers. Obtain and maintain a current Early Educator Certification.
2. Work Experience: At least 3 years related work experience post degree completion, preferably in an early childhood classroom. Must have experience working with children ages birth – 3 years old and experience working with families, preferably economically challenged children and families.
3. Requirements/Aptitudes: Ability to work with teachers, directors, parents, children and volunteers; ability to keep timely and accurate records; must maintain confidentiality of records and communications. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to provide empathic services; ability to relate to children and families served, good problem solving skills; valid driver’s license and automobile insurance .
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability adjust focus. Also required to engage in general office activities including, but not limited to, the use of personal computers and other office equipment.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: CCRI's work week is Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends. This is a full-time, full year position, with hours set by supervisor.
Travel: Regular local and regional travel to providers under contract with CCRI's EHS-CCP program.
Required Education and Experience: A BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching infants and toddlers or a Bachelors Degree in Family Services, Social Work or related field.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Employee must successfully complete all background checks including a drug test and fingerprint clearance. Employee must also have a physical exam and a negative TB test.
